We know how important it is to get your annual investor statements (tax documents) as quickly as possible. As always, our aim is to help make tax time as quick and easy as possible for you.
This is a short summary of everything you need to know this tax season for your Stockspot investments, including what you’ll get, when you’ll get it and where to find it.
- ETFs provide tax components to Stockspot: Mid August
- Stockspot generates your Investor Statement: Mid August
- Investor Statement in your dashboard: Mid/late August
How we generate your tax documents
During the month of July each ETF Issuer (eg. Vanguard, iShares etc) is busy calculating the relevant tax information for each of your ETF holdings. ETFs are tax efficient investments but need to do some complex calculations to work out the tax components of the distribution income you received during the year. Typically we receive this information from the ETF issuers by mid August.
Once received, it then takes us a few days to prepare your consolidated Annual Investor Statements and upload them to your dashboard. This includes a simple one page statement that merges all of your individual ETF tax statements into a single, easy to read document. This document will allow you to complete your tax return via myTax or you can give it to your accountant.
What you’ll get:
You’ll get your FY 2019/20 Annual Investor Statement as well as our Guide to Completing your Tax Return. These are the two key documents that will help you prepare your tax.
We’ll also provide you with the following annual reports:
- Investment Holdings
- Investment Transactions
- Capital Gains
- Investment Income
- Cash Reconciliation
- Audit confirmation letter
Where to find it
We’ll send you an email once these documents are available in the ‘Documents’ section of your dashboard.
