Hi, my name is Daniel
I am in my late 30s, married and I’m a father of two young boys. We live in Melbourne where I have a busy career in the commercial property industry. I am currently the Victorian Head of Property and Asset Management for JLL.
Why I decided to trust Stockspot with my investment portfolio
I had been looking for an automated solution that diversifies between asset classes and has added functionality like rebalancing. I had recently read Tony Robbins book MONEY Master the Game which talks about the ideal breakdown of a portfolio (between shares, bonds, cash) based on average returns and how it best navigates financial crises like the 2008 financial crisis. And Stockspot ended up fitting this model very well!
“What I like about Stockspot is the dashboard and intuitive nature of the website. I like that I can have an automated strategy but with an investing theme.
My investing experience with Stockspot
My investing with Stockspot has been great! The signup process, from memory, was very easy and intuitive.
The real-time view of my portfolio is fantastic. I love the transparency in terms of where my future deposits will be invested in. It allows me to see that my portfolio is constantly balanced. I can also choose the level of growth (and risk) I want to strive for. In addition, there are different investing themes available.
Stockspot is my set and forget vehicle. I still dabble in higher speculative investments. However, knowing my Stockspot portfolio is there as a safety net gives me peace of mind.
What I like about Stockspot
What I like about Stockspot is the dashboard and intuitive nature of the website. I like that I can have an automated strategy but with an investing theme.
This year I changed my theme to have an ESG [environmental, social, and governance] focus as it is an area I have become passionate about and where I think there will be great investment returns in the future.
My advice for a friend who is not investing and just leaving their money in a savings account
You are missing out on the wonders of compounding interest! Investing can be at times slow and unrewarding, however, if you are in it for the long haul that is the point. But eventually, through a disciplined strategy, it can end up catapulting you into a position of financial freedom.
My money tips for those considering investing
No one has all the answers and anything we do has risk attached. But whenever I am feeling nervous about the current state of markets or my investments, I remind myself that money continues to flow.
Even a once in a century event (like COVID-19) didn’t stop the demand for capital to be placed in various markets and assets. It made me realise that during our lifetime, markets will continue to grow if the underpinning economic principles remain. That should give everyone long-term peace of mind in growing their wealth.
