Meet Jacob and Petra
Hi there, we’re Jacob and Petra. Jacob is a venue manager and Petra is a payroll officer.
We met travelling. It’s a passion we both share. We met in Amsterdam and travelled through Canada, South America and a little of Asia before setting up in Brisbane.
In life, we don’t sacrifice the good things, but we also don’t waste money.
Why we trust Stockspot with our investment portfolio
We have been diversifying our portfolio and were looking for something that would be semi secure offering a decent overall growth rate. Jacob dabbled in other pieces (crypto, stock trading), but wanted something to be safely growing our money, not in a savings account.
Being travellers, we are both good at finding ways to save money and as our savings account grew, we decided we wanted to make our money work for us.
The Stockspot sign up process was easy
We found the Stockspot sign up process to be pretty easy. It took maybe a week for the money we sent across to be invested and then we were on!
Achieving our investment goals
Overall, we didn’t really start investing with Stockspot with any specific goals. Even with the recent drop in the market we are still much better off than we would’ve been in a “high interest” savings account.
Petra wants to be in a position where we no longer have to work for our money so we can start up a dog shelter, looking after and rehoming dogs. We’re far from it now, but this is a long-term plan. Stockspot funds are our nest egg/retirement funds that we don’t see us touching for a long time yet.
“What we like about Stockspot is it’s very easy to use. It’s the investment tool I spend the least time on but is still giving results.
My experience with Stockspot
We’ve found the Stockspot investing experience to be simple.
We set up a joint high risk sustainable account (Sustainable Topaz), agreed on an amount to contribute fortnightly, set up a direct debit, and let it do its own thing.

My advice someone who is not investing
Our advice to those who are not investing is to get your money working.
Whether it’s Stockspot or not, current interest rates are not even keeping up with inflation, so taking the “safe” option is costing you money.
Get your money working, not depreciating.
Final money advice
In our opinion, you want your money working in more than one place.
All the wealthy people we have met have fingers in many pies. Spread your assets and make your money work for you. Take risks, but never go all in on one thing.
